A few months back, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple was working on a smart doorbell, similar to Amazon’s Ring (pictured above). The key difference is that it would allegedly feature the company’s Face ID technology for user verification. Now, a recent leak by X user Kosutami has shed new light on the device, suggesting it could support MagSafe.
Originally designed as a safety feature for MacBook charging cables, MagSafe is a magnetic technology that enables Apple devices, such as iPhones, to be wirelessly charged. If Kosutami’s claim is accurate, this suggests Apple’s smart doorbell could also be recharged through this method.
It remains unclear how MagSafe support would benefit Apple’s smart doorbell beyond charging. One possibility is that it could be magnetically attached to a surface, but this might make it easy to steal – especially given its likely price tag as an Apple product.
Most smart doorbells, such as Ring, can last up to six months or longer on a single charge. If Apple’s version offers similar battery life, frequent recharging may not be necessary.

Since Kosutami’s information is unofficial, it should be taken with some skepticism. As for a potential release date, Gurman previously suggested that Apple’s smart doorbell might launch sometime in 2026 at the earliest.
