Here in Singapore, the Qualcomm Snapdragon SEA Summit 2025 kicked off with a showcase of its accomplishments. Basically, the event served as an early recap of the chipsets it has released, including the entry-level Snapdragon X SoC.
To be fair, though, the early part of the event started to feel more of a breakdown of the Snapdragon X and I can’t say I blame them because, again, the processor only became available recently. Just to quickly recap, the CPU is the base model of the entire lineup, sporting eight P-Cores with a boost clock of 3GHz and, as it is the pride point of Qualcomm, an NPU with 45 TOPS in performance.
Oddly enough, Qualcomm’s choice of competitor to its Snapdragon X is the Intel Core 5 120U, which is a Raptor Lake refresh. The point it was trying to get across though is that the X processor pulls less power to perform more or less the same as its blue rival, although it should be noted that the 120U can hit 5GHz.
We also got to see the recently launched Snapdragon X-powered ASUS Zenbook A14 being compared to an Apple MacBook Air, in terms of weight anyway. To my surprise, the latter weighs a little over 1.2kg, compared to the former’s 899g.
Oh, and leave it to Qualcomm to give a reminder that support for Windows 10 will officially end on 14 October 2025, so if you haven’t moved on to Windows 11, now’s the time to do so.
