Earlier in the month, we had a leakster claim that the Samsung tri-folding phone will be officially designated the Galaxy G Fold, with a main display measuring 9.96 inches. The leakster echoed a display analyst in predicting the tri-folder to launch in “early 2026”. But now, a report claims that it will instead launch around the middle of this year, and more specifically alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7, and by extension the Z Flip7.
This latest claim comes from ETNews, citing industry insiders. Another claim is that the the tri-folder is “going from development to production with the Z series at the same time, and it is expected to be launched together at the same time”, per machine translation. Usually Samsung has a Galaxy Unpacked event in the month of July for its foldables, and the report expects the same to happen this year.

The report corroborated the leak mentioned earlier that the Samsung Galaxy G Fold having a 9.96-inch inner display, but also added that its outer display will measure 6.49 inches, the same as the Galaxy Z Fold7. And while it will maintain S-Pen compatibility, it will not have a digitiser, consistent with recent claims of the stylus getting thicker to keep phones thinner.
Perhaps understandably, the report also notes that because this is the first of its kind, only a small number of the device will be produced, at around 200,000, to first measure consumer reaction. It will also only be available in some countries, comparing it to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold SE. Which is perhaps not good news for potential early adopters outside of South Korea and China.
As mentioned before though, claims of release dates for the Samsung tri-folder in the past couple of years has been optimistic at best. With that in mind, this latest report claiming that the device will be released this year should be taken with the usual grain of salt.
