When it rains it pours and in NVIDIA’s case, the issue of missing ROPs seems to have spread to the RTX 5080.A couple of days ago, we reported on some NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 and 5070 Ti cards shipping out with several ROPs short of a full package, with the company saying that it is actively investigating the issue.
Redditor gingeraffe90 posted a screenshot of GPU-Z on the NVIDIA subreddit, showing their RTX 5080 having 104 ROPs, eight units less than the 112 ROPs the GPU should have. What is even more painful, though, is that gingeraffe90’s GPU is reportedly a Founders Edition, further confirming that the issue isn’t just limited to AIB partner cards.

To recap in broad strokes, multiple owners of both the RTX 5090 and 5070 Ti begun sharing GPU-Z validations of their GPUs with less than the advertised amount of ROPs in their cards. For context, some RTX 5090 owners had 168 ROPs of 176, while some RTX 5070 Ti owners had 88 instead of 96 ROPs.
Having fewer ROPs does directly impact the performance of the card but at the time of writing, the Redditor did not provide any performance metrics with their RTX 5080.
