With the release of iOS and iPadOS 18.2 as well as macOS 15.2, the iPhone maker has rolled out not only its own Apple Intelligence, but also implemented its ChatGPT integration. But it looks like more third-party AI models may be on their way to being included with the bitten fruit brand’s own. A leakster has claimed that the company now mentions both Google and OpenAI as options, pointing towards Gemini also being integrated at some point.
This comes via Aaron Perris on X, showing code from what is claimed to be a backend update, with both Google and OpenAI being listed as mentioned. 9to5Mac reports that said backend update was “pushed alongside iOS 18.4 beta”, but cautions against expecting Gemini to be an available option once the update gets a general release. In fact, the report reminds us that Apple Intelligence has experienced quite a few delays.

That being the case, while the mention does not mean that the integration will happen in the next immediate update, it confirms that it will happen at some point in the future. Whether this is by the time iOS 19 rolls around, or even later than that, remains unclear for now.
For what it’s worth, those who want to give Google Gemini a try on their iPhones can already to do, with the iOS app being released back in November. Though it remains to be seen if its integration with Apple Intelligence will work the same way as its OpenAI counterpart currently does.
