Just days after it launch a pair of new smartphone gimbals, DJI has announced the RS 4 Mini, a lightweight handheld mirrorless camera stabiliser. It is notably heavier than its predecessor at 890g but with the same payload capacity ranging from 400g to 2kg, along with several new features.
For starters, the new gimbal is equipped with subject tracking using an optional RS Intelligent Tracking Module, which keeps a human subject in frame. Some of the more premium features from DJI’s flagship gimbals have also trickled down to the RS 4 Mini, including auto-axis locks and 4th-gen stabilisation.
Auto-axis locks allow all three axis locks to automatically unlock when powering on and automatically lock when it shuts off or goes to sleep. Moreover, the brand says that the axis arms fold flatter now, saving storage space. DJI also claims that it offers the fastest switch between horizontal and vertical shooting in the RS series.
When installing a camera, there is a new fine tuning knob for more precise balancing, alongside a new Responsive mode that lets the gimbal react faster to hand movements. Last but not least, the battery life got a significant boost, offering a 13-hour operating time with a faster charging time that provides five hours of use from a 30-minute charge.

The DJI RS 4 Mini is available now through the brand’s official Shopee store. It retails at RM1,449 on its own, but to add on the tracking module and a briefcase handle, the bundle costs RM1,809.
