OPPO’s flagship foldable smartphone successor has officially launched globally today. The Find N5 is touted as the slimmest foldable of its kind, promising high performance, long battery life, and a near-creaseless internal display.
The OPPO Find N5 is exactly as advertised, achieving an impressive thickness of only 8.93mm in its folded form, which is just slightly more than a regular bar-shaped smartphone. When unfolded, it becomes even slimmer at just 4.2mm (excluding the camera bump), with just enough space to house a USB-C port on one half of the device.
It features a 6.62-inch LTPO OLED cover display with a 1140 × 2616 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,450-nit peak brightness, and Nanocrystal Glass protection. Unfolding the device reveals a larger 8.12-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 2248 × 2480 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,100 nits peak brightness. The near-creaseless experience is made possible by OPPO’s improved Flexion Hinge, which is built from 3D-printed titanium alloy.
The phone’s frame is made of durable aluminium and is rated IPX8/IPX9 for water resistance. Other notable features include a three-stage alert switch, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor/lock button combo, and stereo speakers.
Under the hood, the Find N5 is the first foldable smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset. OPPO Malaysia has confirmed that only a single 16GB RAM + 512GB UFS 4.0 storage variant will be available locally. Despite its slim profile, the phone houses dual-cell batteries on each side, providing a total capacity of 5,600mAh. It supports 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse wired charging.
On the software side, the Find N5 runs ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. It also includes first-party and Gemini-enabled AI features such as text summaries, Circle to Search, and AI Image Editor. Notably, the Find N5 is OPPO’s first device with macOS integration, allowing users to control their Apple computers remotely via an internet connection. This is achieved through the updated O+ Connect feature, which initially focused on seamless file transfers between OPPO and iPhone devices.
For imaging, the rear camera system features a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. Meanwhile, both front-facing cameras on the internal and external displays feature an 8MP wide sensor. As with most OPPO smartphones, the imaging system is complemented by Hasselblad-tuned enhancements.
In Malaysia, the OPPO Find N5 is priced at RM7,999 and is offered in Cosmic Black and Misty White colourways. Pre-orders are available now, while deliveries are expected to commence next week on 28 February 2025.
