GoPro has launched the refreshed GoPro Max 360, an updated version of its immersive action camera that brings a variety of improvements. The new iteration features a redesigned mounting system and a removable Enduro battery, alongside software enhancements that expand its functionality for content creators. However, it retains its 2019 predecessor’s 5.6K video recording capability.
The new GoPro Max 360 now supports all standard 1/4-20 tripod mounts, making it easier to attach to a variety of accessories. This tripod mount is positioned beneath GoPro’s folding fingers, which are standard across its camera lineup. The mounting system also enables the popular invisible selfie stick effect, where the stick is automatically removed from the final footage.

A key hardware upgrade is the inclusion of the MAX Enduro Battery, which boasts a 1,960mAh capacity and enhanced performance in extreme conditions, operating in temperatures as low as -10°C. While GoPro has not specified an exact battery runtime, the Enduro series is known for providing extended recording time compared to standard batteries.
Beyond hardware, the GoPro Max 360 benefits from significant software updates. The GoPro Quik app now includes AI-powered subject tracking, allowing users to frame footage automatically without needing to manually adjust the camera’s perspective. This feature makes it easier for users to keep a subject in view while reframing the footage post-shoot.

The app also introduces new CameraFx options and filter effects, along with advanced digital lens settings that can be adjusted via keyframes or automatic transitions. These improvements offer greater creative flexibility, particularly for creators who want both vertical and horizontal video formats from a single 360-degree recording.

For those editing on a desktop, GoPro has introduced the Reframe plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Additionally, GoPro Premium and Premium+ subscribers gain access to unlimited cloud storage and the ability to edit 360 videos directly from the cloud.
For select markets, the 2025 GoPro Max 360 is priced at $350 (~RM1,550). Even though its listing is already live on GoPro Malaysia’s website, details such as local pricing and availability are still unavailable at this time.
