A “Hackintosh”, or a computer running macOS on hardware unauthorised by Apple, is not a novel concept. However, Reddit user u/OceanDepth95028 has seemingly taken the idea and applied it to a smartphone. More specifically, they have fitted a 3rd Gen iPhone SE inside a Nokia Lumia 1020, dubbing it the “NokiApple LumiPhone 1020 SE”.
Technically, this doesn’t count as an actual Hackintosh, as the Redditor reveals that only the outer shell and front display glass is what remains of the Lumia 1020, and likens the modded device to a “Mac motherboard inside an office PC chassis”. Still, it’s a pretty impressive undertaking and the results are equally satisfying.

In their Reddit post on r/hackintosh, the modder details the creation of the LumiPhone. The original iPhone’s LCD screen was removed and relaminated onto the Lumia’s front glass. The iPhone’s front and rear cameras were also transplanted into the Lumia where the Lumia’s cameras would have been. The extra space in the back was used to house a Touch ID home button. Other modifications include plugging up the headphone jack and hooking up the Lumia’s dedicated camera button to the volume key switch.
The Redditor notes that this is a one-off build, and in a comment explains that they loved the design of the Lumia but was let down by ill-supported software. The Nokia Lumia 1020 was released in 2013 and ran Windows Phone 8, the mobile counterpart of the Windows operating system for PCs. Support for Windows Phone ended in 2017, which spelled the end of the Lumia 1020. But at least this Lumia has found new life as a secret iPhone.
