AEON Bank has announced an added layer of security for its mobile app, which it dubs the Mobile Security Platform (MSP). It is described as “an advanced form of shielding technology” for said app, and while the underlying tech may be complex, what it does on the surface is actually pretty straightforward.
As AEON Bank describes in its press release, “MSP continuously monitors potential threats and malware”. When one is detected within the phone running its app, “the user will be notified and access to the AEON Bank app will be temporarily disabled”. Though also noted in the release that a device can be “detected as compromised … due to jailbreaking, rooting, library modification, runtime tampering, and any application modification from the original factory setting that bypasses security restrictions”.

Also being offered as part of the added feature is “Guided Resolution”. Though it’s unclear to what extent the app can go in helping with “removing the detected security threats or adjusting their device settings” on the smartphone. Of course, if all else fails, there’s the option to just reset your phone to factory settings, but that still entails setting up your device once again.
While the additional layer of security provided by the AEON Bank MSP does all of the above, the company still recommends users to regularly carry out your own preventative measures. This includes reviewing app permissions and monitoring data usage, as well as account balance and statements for suspicious activity. The company also points to its Security subsection of its FAQ page, linked here, which mostly applies even if the MSP is not specifically mentioned.
