Telekom Malaysia (TM) has quietly extended the shelf life of its copper-based services such as Streamyx and Unifi Lite by a couple of weeks. While the services were previously set to be phased out by 28 February 2025, its website has updated the cutoff date to 14 March, citing a “technology refresh” implementation.
Earlier this month, the company announced that it will sunset its older copper network-based internet services, meaning that after the deadline, it will no longer resolve any problems involving said network. Moreover, all Streamyx and Unifi Lite customers are required to switch to the telco’s fibre-based Unifi Broadband packages before the given date, while failure to migrate to a fibre broadband plan will result in the termination of internet service.
You can migrate through the selfcare portal, MyUnifi app, or by WhatsApp if you receive a message from Unifi Care. If you live in an area with existing fibre infrastructure, the migration process will take up to 14 business days while for those staying in areas without fibre, you will be notified of an expected readiness date, ranging from 30 to 180 business days.
Unifi Home fibre broadband plans start from RM99/month for the 100Mbps plan, with options ranging up to a 2Gbps plan for RM319/month. The telco is currently offering a limited-time promo where you can get the 100Mbps, 300Mbps, and 500Mbps plans with a RM10/month discount along with three free months, with the promo set to end on 31 March 2025.
