Back in December, vivo introduced a new entry-level smartphone from the Y series called the Y29. Now, the phone has made an appearance on the SIRIM database, signalling an upcoming launch in Malaysia.
The Y29 was listed on SIRIM just yesterday on 12 February 2025 with the model number V2434. Given that the brand has not made an announcement yet, we do not yet know how many configurations will be offered in the local market but in India, it is available in four configurations starting from INR13,999 (~RM717) for a 4GB+128GB setup and maxes out at 8GB+256GB for INR18,999 (~RM974).
As for the specs, the Y29 features an improved 6.68-inch 720p LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. Inside, the phone runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, which is relatively an upgrade compared to its predecessor. For protection, it gets a higher rating of IP64 for dust and water resistance.

On the imaging side, the budget device sports the same setup as the Y28 with a 50MP main camera, a depth sensor, and an 8MP front shooter. Powering it is a larger 5,500mAh battery with support for much faster 44W charging. Connectivity-wise, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.4.
