Online rumours suggest that Sony is preparing to launch its next-generation WH-1000XM6 headset and WF-1000XM6 TWS earbuds this year. Things might a little different this time, though, as it is being alleged that the Japanese brand is planning on segregating their launch windows.
According to Notebookcheck, one reason that Sony is allegedly staggering the launch between the WH-1000XM6 and WF-1000XM6 is to synchronise the launch years that occurred between the WH and WF series. For context, the WH-1000XM5 launch two years after the WH-1000XM4. Likewise, the WF-1000XM5 also launched two years after the WF-1000XM4 made its debut in 2021.
There is also the matter of the WH-1000XM6 supposedly already appearing on the US FCC list. Specifically, it appears repeatedly under the designation YY2984 and reaffirms the possibility of the headphones launching well before Sony’s next-generation TWS earbuds do.
As to how big of a gap between launches Sony is planning, both the WH-1000XM6 and WF-1000XM6 could launch within a month of each other. The good news is that we may not have to wait long. Another rumours says that the launches are expected to happen before July this year, meaning that we could see more substantial images and details leak in the following months.
