Luxury brand Caviar is probably best known for its over-the-top gold versions of popular phones like the iPhone. There’s a new one for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro max, and it’s not as simple as just putting gold around the phone this time around. This is because these phones are called the Bitcoin Edition, with the cryptocurrency logo and other “blockchain-inspired patterns” engraved all over.
GSMArena cites a press release which reads “the Bitcoin Edition iPhone 16 pro is a luxurious homage to the world’s leading cryptocurrency”. And fittingly enough, you can use crypto to pay for this specific variant of the bitten fruit phone. Though beyond the way it looks, like many of Caviar’s prior modifications, the phones are exactly the same as when Apple first revealed them.
What sets the Bitcoin Edition iPhone 16 Pro series apart from Caviar’s other gold devices though is that there are only 47 of these being made. The report cites the company as saying “the number reflects both the rarity and a connection to one of the most influential figures in modern politics”. If nothing else, this is probably a reference to Donald Trump, who is currently the 47th President of the US.
Also as you’d expect of something being listed by Caviar, the Bitcoin Edition of the iPhone 16 Pro starts at US$11,130 (~RM49,567) for the starting 128GB model, and up to US$12,130 (~RM54,021) for 1TB of storage. As for the Pro Max, the 256GB model is priced at US$11,910 (~RM53,041), with the 1TB model capping things out at US$12,630 (~RM56,248).
