The DJI Osmo Mobile 6 was launched back in 2022 alongside an SE model, so the series of mobile phone gimbals is likely due for an update. Leaks suggest that a successor model is on the way, as images of what look like official marketing material for the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 and 7P have appeared on the internet. Some reports also refer to the latter as the Pro model.
Some of these images come courtesy of leakster Igor Bogdanov, who goes by @Quadro_News on X. Others, as well as some alleged features of the two gimbals, were shared by drone news outlet DroneXL. On the surface, features shared by both the base DJI OSmo Mobile 7 and the 7P are the familiar control joystick, dedicated record and memory buttons, and zoom controls on the left side. There’s also the familiar screen to show quick details like battery life, connectivity status and any active features in use.
Then there are the features exclusive to the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P, identified by its darker grey colourway as opposed to the base model’s white. With this Pro model, you also get manual focusing using the wheel on the left. It also gets a telescopic extension arm, which the report says is building on the 8.5-inch extension rod from the current series.
From the images, this model also appears to have an additional detachable module that would otherwise be stuck on the phone mount via pogo pins. All this seemingly points to the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P being the true successor to the 6, with be base model 7 being more like the Lite model.
Incidentally, Notebookcheck also re ports that the Osmo Mobile 7, 7P and the “multifunctional module” were listed on the US FCC back in November. It’s been awhile since, but such listings usually mean an imminent unveiling. For what it’s worth, both the Osmo Mobile 7 and 7P have also been listed in the SIRIM database
