Huawei, with its Mate XT, has beaten Samsung to the punch when it comes to tri-folding devices, but when the latter does get around launching its own, the device may be of a different form factor. And with said differing form factor, it will also be named something that references a prior prototype that has been publicly displayed before.
Published on South Korean blog Naver, leakster yeux1122 claims that the device will be called the Samsung Galaxy G Fold. This is possibly in reference to the Flex G inward-folding tri-folder, like you’ll find with some brochures, that was first revealed back in 2022. Also noted in the post is a January 2026 release window, citing display analyst Ross Young, who posted “early 2026” on his own account on X.
Other claims being made about the supposed Samsung Galaxy G Fold include a screen size of 9.96 inches, which may get rounded up to 10 inches for simplicity’s sake. There’s also mention that it will be of similar weight to the H, likely referencing the aforementioned Huawei Mate XT.
As with any other leak, the safe dose of salt is advised. This is especially since there have been at least one claim per year that the Samsung tri-folding device will be launched “this year” for the past couple of years, only for nothing of the sort ending up happening.
