While Intel has officially cancelled any and all development of Falcon Shores, the chipmaker has confirmed that both Nova Lake and Panther Lake are still on track to launch in their respective windows. The confirmation was provided during a Q4 earnings call, by one of the current co-CEOs running the show since the retirement of its former CEO, Pat Gelsinger, last year.
“2026 is even more exciting from a client perspective as Panther Lake achieves meaningful volumes and we introduce our next-generation client family code-named Nova Lake. Both will provide strong performance across the entire PC stack with significantly better cost and margin for us, enhancing our competitive position and reinforcing our value proposition to our partners and customers.”
As a quick primer, Intel’s Panther Lake is expected to be the successor for the current Lunar Lake mobile CPU segment, which made its debut back in June last year. To that end, the new chip segment is expected to launch within the second half of this year.
Nova Lake, on the other hand, is set to be the successor to the Arrow Lake generation that launched last year. The chipset is expected to enter production and make its way into consumer’s hands by 2026, which means no new desktop CPUs this year. For that matter, Intel didn’t state if the next-generation processors will be sticking to the current LGA1851 chipset or if an entirely new chipset will be developed alongside it.
