Touch ‘n Go (TnG) has recently added a new “Device2Cash” feature on its eWallet, allowing users to trade-in their unwanted items directly through the app. This new addition is available now under the Shopping tab on the application’s All Services page. According to its About page, this new feature is part of a collaboration between TnG and local company Gadget Flow Sdn Bhd.
Device2Cash functions almost similarly to Carousell’s in-app InstantBuy feature, where users can select the item that they wish to sell from a list of eligible devices. One notable difference is that, instead of cash, payments for sold items are deposited to the user’s TnG eWallet balance.
Eligible products range from five different device categories: smartphones, tablets, notebooks, watches and gaming. However, note that the latter four aren’t that extensive, at least for now. For instance, the gaming category only currently accepts select versions of the Nintendo Switch video game console.
Each product is also listed with their respective estimated values, which may differ later upon evaluation. Once selected, users are required to list out the specifications and current condition of the device that they wish to sell, as well as provide its IMEI. The feature will then ask for your current address and preferred time of appointment for device collection.
As noted by the service’s T&C page, device inspections are not done on-location, so it may take some time for Gadget Flow to provide you with the final trade-in value. If you do not agree with the quote, your item will be shipped back to the same address within seven working days, handled by local courier GDEX. But if you choose to accept, payment for the trade-in will be credited to your TnG eWallet balance within seven working days after confirmation.
The new Device2Cash feature is looking to be a useful tool for those planning to part ways with older devices and earning some cash in the process. Bear in mind that it is very likely that you won’t be receiving the exact amount as estimated in the list, so do keep your expectations low if you wish to utilise this service.
