WhatsApp is looking to introduce an all-new multi-account feature, according to the latest report by WABetaInfo. First offered to Android beta testers, the newly released 25.2.10.70 version of the app now brings it to iOS devices, allowing users to log into multiple accounts within the same app, eliminating the need for separate devices or parallel apps.
Screenshots shared from this beta update reveal a feature within the app settings that enables users to add and manage multiple accounts seamlessly. This addition is particularly useful for individuals with multiple phone numbers, especially those who use devices that support dual SIM. It’s also a great workaround for those who resort to using WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business for managing multiple accounts.
The new multi-account feature offers two options for adding accounts: setting up a fresh primary account or linking an existing one via a QR code. This dual approach caters to varied user scenarios, whether starting anew or transitioning an established account into the app. Once added, each account will operate independently, ensuring separate notifications, chat histories, backups, and settings. However, an app restart may be required upon switching to a different account, according to the screenshot provided.
As with most features found on its beta builds, the multi-account ability is still under development, with no confirmed release date for iOS or Android. Hopefully we’ll see a potential rollout within the coming weeks or months.
