The Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) has sporadically been making it in the news in recent times, but it looks like its actual implementation is still a ways away. Having missed the previous implementation deadline which was last month, or at least a decision on its implementation, the system is still said to be in need of fine-tuning.
Paultan.org cites Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi as saying that the ministry is “taking in a lot of opinions and offers” on the matter from “industry players”. He adds that “hopefully in the end we can get the best [solution] when the time comes for a decision to be made”.
The minister goes on to say that safety and efficiency of the MLFF is the main concern. Of particular concern is the latter as leakages are possible, and it’s something that needs to be addressed “because otherwise there will be implications”. Examples provided on this included losses incurred by those who make use of but did not pay the toll fee, and the enforcement to prevent such scenarios.
Having missed the previous dateline, it doesn’t seem like a new one has been announced. That being said, there’s still time to meet the targeted implementation year of 2025 as set by the previous Works Minister, Fadillah Yusof.
