Touch ‘n Go (TnG) today has introduced a new Cat Edition RFID Tag, featuring the popular Oyen cat theme similar to its existing NFC charm and extendable charm. The product is now available but will be sold as a limited run, although the company has not disclosed the number of units allocated through its channels.
Apart from featuring the Oyen theme, the Cat Edition is also revealed to be TnG’s first ever mid-sized RFID Tag. The company notes that this version fits perfectly on a vehicle’s upper left corner of its windscreen or left bumper, giving more options for its placement. In contrast, the original version of the tag required users to position it specifically on the left headlamp if not on the windscreen. Notably, TnG advises against placing the new mid-sized RFID tag on the headlamp to comply with Road Transport Department (JPJ) guidelines.
Despite its larger size, the new tag functions similarly to the original, requiring users to be within at least 3 metres of the scanner in RFID lanes at toll centres. As before, balance top-ups are managed through the TnG eWallet app, and note that it also supports the newly introduced SOS Balance feature.
The new Oyen RFID Tag is available starting today via TnG’s official online store on Shopee, as well as its Nu Sentral and Bangsar south service and sales centres. It is currently offered at an introductory price of RM35 for an undisclosed limited time, after which it will retail at RM37 once the promotion ends.
