Launched alongside its siblings is Samsung’s latest top-of-the-line model, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Much like the vanilla and Plus variants, it too features the brand’s latest One UI firmware and features, new Galaxy AI tools, and the specially tuned Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset.
This year’s iteration of the Ultra moves away from the boxy Note-like look of its predecessors, aligning it more closely with the rest of the Galaxy S25 family by featuring curvier corners. Other design changes are minimal, such as slightly thicker frames around the rear cameras and thinner bezels on the display. Additionally, it features titanium materials and IP68 water and dust resistance.
An integrated S-Pen is still present, located at the bottom left corner of the phone. However, it no longer features Bluetooth connectivity, so you can no longer use it as a wireless controller for photography and so on. According to Samsung, the decision behind this is to reduce the stylus’ weight and in turn, the Galaxy S25 Ultra as well. On that note, the phone itself comes in at 218g, which is 14g less than last year’s model.
Specs-wise, the Ultra model sports a 6.9-inch Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel, with QHD+ resolution, 120Hz variable refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Armor 2 protection. Under its hood is the aforementioned Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, which is claimed to provide a performance boost of 40% in NPU, 37% in CPU and 30% in GPU compared to its predecessor. Accompanying it is a choice of either 256GB, 512GB or 1TB for storage, and a fixed RAM capacity of 12GB across the board. Samsung has also upgraded the phone’s heat dissipation structure with 40% larger vapour chamber and a tailored interface material (TIM) that’s claimed to deliver extra improvement in thermal efficiency.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra retains a battery capacity of 5,000mAh, along with 45W fast charging via USB-C. It also supports 15W QC2.0 wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. While there are no changes to the battery specifications, Samsung claims improved power efficiency, allowing the phone to last longer than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
In terms of imaging, the top-end model retains its predecessor’s 200MP primary camera, 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom, and 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, but introduces a new 50MP ultra-wide shooter. All of these cameras feature OIS, except for the latter. The 12MP selfie camera remains unchanged.
Despite the minor changes to imaging hardware, Samsung has provided various improvements on the software level. These include a new Virtual Aperture for depth-of-field control, better low-light photography, default 10-bit HDR recording, and support for the first-party Galaxy Log format. Meanwhile, the newly added AI-enhanced Audio Eraser feature enables you to easily remove unwanted sounds, such as music and crowd noises, from your videos.
Other than that, the Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with Samsung’s One UI 7 interface and a slew of new Galaxy AI features such as Now Bar and Now Brief, as well as returning tools including Circle To Search, Call Transcript, Translate, Writing Assist and others. Much like the vanilla and Plus models, you can also quickly bring up Google Gemini by pressing and holding the side button.
