Malaysians now have yet another cashless payment option with the official rollout of Garmin Pay. The fitness wearable company has announced that its contactless payment system, rivalling Apple Pay and Google Pay, can now be used for transactions here.
Its first partnership is with Public Bank, enabling the bank’s customers to link their Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards to the Garmin Pay Wallet. This NFC-powered system enables users to simply tap their Garmin smartwatch to any contactless card payment terminal to complete a transaction.
According to its website, the wearable brand currently has 54 smartwatch models that support Garmin Pay, including its new Instinct 3 series. Currently, the payment method is not supported by any other local bank. There was a trial run between Garmin and Maybank back in 2020, but the latter no longer supports it.
From 21 January to 30 April 2025, Public Bank is offering a cashback reward of RM30 when you use your card through Garmin Pay to make three retail transactions with a minimum spend of RM80 per transaction. Additionally, cardmembers can get either a 13% or RM450 discount on selected Garmin products from today until 31 December 2025.
