Late last month, we saw reports claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series of phones will be getting access to Google Gemini Advanced for free. More recently, a claim is making the rounds that Gemini will be able to access data from apps made by the South Korean tech giant which often come pre-installed with the brand’s phones.
This comes via leakster @chunvn8888 on X, who posted a number of screenshots indicating as such. The of Samsung’s apps were named specifically – Calendar, Notes and Reminder. These are described as extensions for Google Gemini, and extension permission for each app can be turned on or off individually from the look of things. Answering a question in the replies, the leakster says that there are more apps that will be getting this sort of integration, but stopped short of naming them.
If nothing else, this opens up options tremendously for users of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 devices, and potentially older ones too as the get rolled out further. This would be especially true for the Notes app, which natively uses Galaxy AI for summaries, translation, style and grammar checks, as well as generating text. Particularly for translation, this allows you to default to the one that has given you more accurate translations over time, assuming you’ve noticed the difference.
Of course, rumours are to be taken as such until alter this week, when the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event actually happens. Just as last year’s saw a lot of focus on Galaxy AI, this year the company may be giving AI features an equally large, if not larger, spotlight for AI features over the devices themselves.
