Rapid KL has officially announced the integration of its monthly My50 travel pass with Touch ‘n Go eWallet. Starting May 2025, commuters will be able to renew the pass through the e-wallet by using their smartphone, bypassing the need to go to one of its train or bus station counters for the transaction.
That being said, renewals through the counters will still be an available option for those who would rather opt for the physical method. Moreover, while the My50 is currently limited to just the TnG function within your MyKad, that will no longer be the case as the monthly pass will be compatible with any NFC card linked to your TnG eWallet account, which is also known as TnG’s enhanced cards.
When this upcoming change was first announced by transport minister Anthony Loke back in November, he mentioned that users will also be able to use a QR code on their smartphone to utilise the pass, allowing users to forgo using a card altogether. However, this method has not received an update yet.
Rapid KL is currently performing a system upgrade to the My50 pass, which will last until 31 January 2025. During this period, commuters can only renew their pass once it has expired.
