Proton has announced a limited production model of its X50 SUV that’s simply called the Sport Edition. The national carmaker says that it’s “built on the strong foundation of the Proton X50 Premium variant”, itself a variant of what the brand calls “the No.1 B-segment SUV in Malaysia last year”.
As the Proton X50 SE is based on the Premium model, the engine running the car is identical to said model which, to be fair, is shared across the series minus the Flagship variant. This means a 1.5l displacement, turbocharged, and with Multi Point Fuel Injection, delivering 150 PS and 226 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
On the outside, the X50 SE sports (no pun intended) front, rear and side skirting as part of the Aerokit. These also serve as red accents to the otherwise Quartz Black body and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Proton X50 SE gets all the trimmings of the 2024 model it was based on. This means it has the 10.3-inch infotainment head unit and the Hi Proton voice command system, 360-degree cameras and six-speaker audio system. There’s also the six-way power-adjustable automatic air conditioning, which you can access remotely via the Proton Link app. As an added bonus, this model comes with a wireless charger, as well as being tinted out of the proverbial box.

As mentioned, the X50 SE is a limited-run model, with only 1,000 cars being made. That being said, they are priced at RM105,300, though the company is offering a RM7,000 rebate for purchases within January.
In conjunction with the announcement, the brand also launched the Test Drive and Win Festive Fortune campaign which runs until March. As part of this, Proton invites customers to visit any of its dealerships and test drive any model. Doing so enters you into a monthly lucky draw, with monthly cash prizes of up to RM5,000 up for grabs, as well as a chance to win your own X50 SE. You can find out more about this by heading over to authorised showrooms, or its official website linked below.
