For those using Google Workspace, AI features were previously an optional extra. The internet search giant has since announced a bit of news that’s both good and bad, depending on your perspective. On one hand, the AI features have been integrated into the Workspace suite, but on the other, the Workspace suite itself now costs a little more.
More specifically, Google is adding its AI features into the Workspace Business and Enterprise plans. But where the Business Standard plan previously cost RM50 a month without the AI bits that constitute an additional RM83.40 on top, the new price is rated at RM58.40 with the AI functionality included.
In case you missed it, Google’s Workspace AI offerings include Gmail email summaries, writing tools for it and Docs, automatic meeting minutes and the NotebookLM research assistant, among a long list of other features. Then there’s Gemini, which does the usual chatbot thing that it does for free users, plus searching across your Workspace account for information pertinent to prompts you give it.
Based on the press release sent by the company, these changes to Google Workspace prices will take effect starting tomorrow for new customers. For those who are already paying, the monthly subscription prices will be updated starting 17 March instead. You can find out more about these changes via the links below, which seems to already reflect the new price, despite the press release.
