ZTE has released its second-generation foldable smartphone, the Flip 2, in Japan. It is largely similar to the original model in terms of specs, but it does get a larger cover screen in a new design as well as a slightly upgraded chipset.
The Flip 2 sports the same 6.9-inch main OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. However, the protruding circular outer screen has been replaced with a flat rectangular 3-inch OLED display, which should make it more practical to use. Under the hood, it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chipset paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
On the imaging side, it gets the same rear setup with a 50MP main camera and a depth sensor, while the front gets an improved 32MP selfie snapper. Powering it is a nominally smaller 4,300mAh battery with support for 33W charging. The side of the phone is fitted with a fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button, while for protection, it comes with an IP42 rating for dust and water resistance.
The Flip 2 retails at JPY64,080 (~RM1,849) and is offered in black, white and blue colourways. For now, the company has not divulged any plans to release the foldable in other markets.
