WhatsApp has announced a range of new additions and updates as it begins the year. Of those introduced include a quicker way to react to messages, along with several new chat features.
To streamline interactions, the Meta-owned messaging app has also introduced quicker message reactions. By double-tapping a message, users can react instantly and browse their most-used reactions for speedy responses. Prior to this, users are required to tap and hold on a message in order to bring up the reaction pop-up, though keep in mind that double-tapping does not bring the options to reply, forward, copy and so on.
Another improvement makes it easier to share sticker packs with friends. Users can now send entire sticker packs directly within their chats, making it simple to share favourites or new discoveries.
Building on the success of video call effects introduced last year, WhatsApp now allows users to apply the same 30 backgrounds, filters, and effects when capturing and sharing photos or videos in chats. For those who enjoy custom stickers, newly added is a feature that enables users to turn selfies into stickers by selecting the “create sticker” option and accessing the camera. However, this feature is currently available on Android, with plans to roll it out on iOS soon.
These new features, with the exception of selfie stickers, are available now on the latest versions of WhatsApp and Android and iOS. Needless to say, be sure to keep the app updated in order to enjoy these new additions.
