DJI has officially unveiled the Flip, its new unique-looking folding drone. The highlight is obviously the drone’s design, with its foldable full-coverage propeller guards with carbon fibre spokes that make it look like bicycle rims, but it also features a large camera sensor, a three-axis gimbal, and a 3D infrared system for obstacle detection.
Weighing under 249g, the lightweight Flip is equipped with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with Dual Native ISO Fusion, promising high dynamic range through 48MP stills. It supports up to 4x zoom and can capture 4K footage up to 100 fps along with support for 2.7K vertical shooting. There is also AI subject tracking and six shooting modes with a dedicated button.
Speed-wise, it can max out at either 12m/s or 16m/s, depending on whether or not there are winds. With a flight distance capped at 14km, the company claims that the Flip has a hovering time of 28 minutes and a total flight time of 31 minutes. With the infrared sensor, the drone supports auto-braking even in dark conditions.
The Flip is available now through the brand’s authorised retailers as well as its Shopee and Lazada stores at RM1,679. While the basic kit comes with an RC-N3 joystick controller, you can also get the upgraded set with an RC 2 controller with a screen for RM2,399.
