Tesla has unveiled a refreshed version of its electric SUV, dubbed the Model Y Juniper, which is now offered via its official Malaysia website. To commemorate its debut, the company has introduced an exclusive Launch Edition, featuring a bespoke Glacier Blue exterior colour and distinctive cyber design elements.
The New Model Y showcases a cutting-edge design, highlighted by a cross-car lightbar at the front and a rear lightbar with a tailgate inspired by the Cybertruck and Cybercab. Aerodynamic upgrades, including newly designed wheels and a rear diffuser, optimise lift balance and enhance stability and efficiency at high speeds.
Interior enhancements include a special design for the charging console and floor mats with silver accents, paired with an all-black vegan suede trim for a premium feel. Enhancements to the cabin include double-layer glass windows and a panoramic silver-coated glass roof, reducing UV rays and heat while ensuring a quieter interior. The Launch Edition enhances this with exclusive features, including a custom launch badge at the rear, a puddle light badge and a doorsill plate with a ‘Launch’ wordmark that greets passengers.
Signature features such as ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and a second-row display for passengers, are also present in the New Model Y Juniper. Additionally, passengers can now adjust or fold the rear seats at the press of a button.
The Model Y Juniper is available in two variants: Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive. The former model offers a 466km range (WLTP), accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 201km/h, whereas the latter extends the range to 551km (WLTP). Both variants come with standard 19-inch ‘Crossflow’ alloy wheels, with an option to upgrade to 20-inch ‘Helix 2.0’ wheels for RM10,000.
Speaking of add-ons, Tesla offers the option to change up the vehicle’s interior to feature a black-and-white combination for RM5,000, while an Enhanced Autopilot package is available at RM16,000. There is also the Full Self-Driving (FSD) add-on at RM32,000, though note that you won’t be getting all of the features offered as fully autonomous driving remains unapproved in Malaysia at this time.
Pricing for the new Model Y Juniper starts at RM195,450 for the Rear-Wheel Drive variant and RM242,450 for the Long Range AWD. Both models are available for order on Tesla Malaysia’s official website, with deliveries expected to begin in late April this year.
