Honda Malaysia has unveiled this year’s batch of the Civic, which includes the usual three petrol variants and the e:HEV RS hybrid model. Visually, it’s very similar, if not outright identical, to the previous generation vehicles. Prices have gone up slightly, which is to be expected, but we’ll get to in a bit.
On the inside, the new Honda Civic e:HEV RS features a familiar 184 PS and 315 Nm from the 2l e:HEV powertrain. The petrol equivalent, on the other hand, comes with a 1.5; VTEC turbocharged engine providing 182 PS and 240Nm of torque.
It’s much the same story with the Honda Sensing safety features, most of which the company says come as standard on all variants. If you need a refresher, the list consists of Lead Car Departure Notification System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Low Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Auto High Beam.
Also coming as standard across the Civic range is the Honda Connect “smartphone integration system”, interfaced via the 9-inch display “with Google built in”. Notably only coming as standard for both RS models is a wireless charger on the centre console. As an aside, all models are also getting tinted wind shields.
For their prices, the Honda Civic starts with the E model, costing RM133,900, followed by the V variant which costs RM144,900. The petrol RS model has an asking price of RM149,900, while the e:HEV RS is priced at RM167,900. The range comes in five colours: Canyon River Blue Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Platinum White Pearl and Ignite Red Metallic. Those last two will cost an additional RM800 though.
