During the global launch of the OnePlus 13, the company also introduced the 13R, the more affordable variant from the series. It gets a near-identical design to its flagship counterpart, but the upper mid-range phone gets a last-gen processor, a downgraded photography setup, a smaller screen, and slower charging.
The 13R sports a 6.78-inch 2780×1264 LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an HDR peak brightness of 4,500 nits, and a global peak brightness of 1,600 nits. Inside, the phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. For durability, it comes with an IP65 rating for dust and water protection as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for the screen.
On the optics front, it is equipped with a triple-camera setup made up of a 50MP main shooter with OIS and a smaller sensor compared to the 13, a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 16MP selfie snapper. Backing it is a large 6,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging, but it does not support wireless charging.
For connectivity, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. It does get an under-display fingerprint scanner, but with an optical sensor instead of an ultrasonic one — as a bonus, it does retain the iconic alert slider. As for software, it ships with OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15, with a promise of four OS updates and six years of security patches.
The 13R retails at a starting price of US$600 (~RM2,698) for the base trim. As of now, it is unknown when it will be available in Malaysia, but we can expect it to be released here soon as the phone has already been listed on the SIRIM database.
