Alliance Bank has become the latest Malaysian bank to add support for Samsung Pay and Google Pay. This comes shortly after it was discovered last week that the bank had been added to Google’s list of supported banks for Google Wallet.
With this update, the bank’s customers can add any of its virtual and physical Visa credit cards to Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet. This enables users to use their supported smartphone or smartwatch to tap to pay at any card payment terminal using NFC. Of course, you will have to make sure your device supports either Samsung or Google’s payment feature.
The only Alliance Bank credit cards currently excluded from this integration are its partnership credit cards — such as the ones with redONE and MCash — and its Mastercard credit card. To add your card to either Google Pay or Samsung Pay, virtual card users will need to enable it within the allianceonline app, while physical card users can manually add it from the respective Wallet app.
From 9 January to 28 February 2025, Alliance Bank cardholders who add their card to Samsung Wallet will receive a RM5 voucher for use at selected merchants. Users can also redeem a buy one free one ice cream scoop deal at Inside Scoop by paying using either wallets, valid until 31 March 2025.
