Last year, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Ring, its first ever smart ring. At the time of its launch, the tech giant said that it had no plans to release the wearable in Malaysia, but its recent listing in the SIRIM database may hint that the company changed its mind.
The Galaxy Ring has been spotted in SIRIM with the model number SM-Q501 to SM-Q509 listed on 3 January 2025. Moreover, there is now a support page for the smart ring on the brand’s Malaysian website, further indicating of its imminent arrival. With nine listings on the database, we can expect it to be offered in the nine existing sizes ranging from 5 to 13.
To refresh your memory, the Galaxy Ring is made out of titanium and comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It weighs between 2.3g to 3.2g, depending on the size, and has a thickness of 2.6mm. For connectivity, it is equipped with Bluetooth 5.4.
Inside this small ring are three sensors, namely an accelerometer, a heart rate sensor, and a temperature sensor. The sensors help the user keep track of their workouts, sleep, energy, and more. Battery-wise, the ring can last up to seven days on a single charge and up to 14 days with the charging cradle.
