The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced a special flat-rate compound fee of RM150 for three types of traffic offences over a six-month period. From 3 January until 30 June 2025, motorists are encouraged to use the 50% discount for their outstanding fines, which can be paid through JPJ counters and kiosks, public portals, and the MyJPJ app, but not through MyEG.
The three offences that are covered by the special rate are Summons 53A (AwAS Summons) for speeding violations or running red lights captured by the AwAS camera system, Notice 114 (Interview Notice) and Notice 115 (Sticker Summons Notice by JPJ). Transport minister Anthony Loke noted that the rate for these notices is usually RM300.
Moreover, Loke stated that during this six-month period, the accumulation of demerit points will be suspended, meaning those who pay the fines within this grace period will not incur any demerit points. He added that as far back as September 2018, there are currently over two million unpaid summonses.
Those who fail to pay by 30 June will not be allowed to renew their road tax or driving licence. According to the minister, many motorists are not aware that they have been blacklisted due to unpaid fines.
