For whatever faults that you may find with Samsung’s OneUI overlay, many of them can likely be solved with the official add-on called Good Lock. That being said, the app is not one that’s necessarily available to everyone, and in regions where it is available, you’ll have to get it from the brand’s own Galaxy Store. That may be changing once OneUI 7 rolls around.
In a community forum post, a company rep said that Good Lock will be made available for download from the Google Play Store in addition to the Galaxy Store “starting with One UI 7.0”. Granted, machine translation is not always faultless, but rather than pinning a specific date to when it is happening, Samsung is making it coincide with the release of said overlay.
And probably for good reason too, as according to the post, it looks like some features that were previously only available via Good Lock will be integrated into OneUI 7. Or, at least they are “closely connected to the system and are always being carefully updated”. There will also be a redesign to make it easier to manage.
While this is good news for users of Samsung phones in general, the ones that would probably most benefit from this change are those using devices from the Galaxy Z Flip series. In case you missed it, you can give an article of ours a read on the ways Good Lock vastly improved the usability of the outer screen on the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
