We first saw the Zotac Gaming Zone back at Computex 2024 with the gaming handheld officially going on sale earlier this month. Now it appears that the brand is planning on launching a new version of the console next month, during CES 2025.
According to TPU, Zotac plans on giving the media a “sneak peek” at a Gaming Zone with “stronger hardware” but fell short of providing any tangible details of what that hardware could be. Given the ongoing trend, it is possible and likely that the brand will continue to use AMD’s technology and presumably, the much anticipated Ryzen Z2 SoC.
If that happens to be case, Zotac would be the second brand to utilise the Ryzen Z2 chipset, after Lenovo and its upcoming second generation of Legion Go gaming handhelds.
The Zotac Gaming Zone features some relatively meaty hardware. While not powered by the Ryzen Z1 Extreme, it still runs on the Hawk Point Ryzen 7 8840U. Additionally, it is by technicality, the second gaming handheld to feature an OLED display after the Steam Deck OLED.
Once again, it wouldn’t surprise us if Zotac decides to go with a Ryzen Z2 or, like the OneXPlayer F1 Pro, run on the Ryzzen AI 9 HX 370.
