Spotify would be the last place one would expect to find pornographic material but alas, this is the internet and where there’s a will, there’s a way. For one Reddit user, their search for music by rapper M.I.A produced an unexpectedly steamy result featuring a pornstar with a similar name.
The search for the rapper’s content produced a video of the famous and former pornographic actress, Mia Khalifa, along with a thumbnail of her clearly and quite literally doing the dirty. We’ve edited the screenshot here but you can see the original NSFW Reddit post in the source.
This isn’t the first time people have posted smut on Spotify. According to The Verge, one account with a long string of alphanumeric characters has been publishing sexually explicit videos on the streaming service, masquerading as a podcast account since November this year.
Spotify has since removed the offending matter and account on the grounds that it violated its policies, including forbidding sexually explicit content. But again, such content is still dime a dozen on the music streaming service, and worse, it doesn’t have a one-click button that allows users to report them. Instead, folks have to copy the content’s URL and then paste them on the official support page.
Again, that particular search isn’t the only form of explicit content on Spotify. Besides video, one user’s Discover Weekly playlist was nothing but lewd audio tracks of women moaning in ecstasy although, to be fair, the algorithm wouldn’t suggest such a playlist to someone unless they themselves have been actively searching and playing such tracks.
