Casio Malaysia has announced that its latest limited edition timepiece, the G-SHOCK MRG-B2000JS, has arrived in Malaysia. Available only 800 units worldwide, watch enthusiasts and collectors alike can now purchase it via select G-SHOCK retailers nationwide. However, expect to spend a pretty penny for it.
The new G-SHOCK MR-G limited edition’s creation inspired by the Juryoku-Maru: San, a katana that was crafted exclusively for Casio by master swordsmith Kamiyama Teruhira, while its distinctive “aogai” blue shell lacquer scabbard is designed by artisan Nomura Mamoru. The company says this collaboration bridges traditional Japanese artistry and G-SHOCK”s commitment to precision engineering.
The MRG-B2000JS’s bezel is forged from recrystallized hybrid titanium, replicating the sword’s edge pattern. Casio says this material undergoes a deep-layer hardening process and is polished to capture the katana’s unique characteristics. The titanium center case is treated with blue-grey AIP to echo the blade’s colour, while the case back features a hand-etched inscription of the Japanese character “San,” ensuring each watch is distinct.
Meanwhile, the watch band showcases the aogai blue shell lacquer technique, a nod to traditional Japanese mother-of-pearl inlay. Crafted with the titanium alloy DAT55G, the band combines scratch resistance with a mirror-finish and iridescent hues that reflect the scabbard’s artistry.
Beyond aesthetics, joining the G-SHOCK MRG-B2000JS analogue timekeeping are several modern touches. These include solar charging capability as well as Bluetooth connectivity, which enables the watch to sync with smartphones and adjusts to radio-wave time signals for precise timekeeping. There’s also an LED light which glows in a beautiful purple hue.
The limited edition Casio G-SHOCK MRRG-B2000JS will cost you RM43,995. As mentioned earlier, it is exclusively available at select G-SHOCK outlets in Malaysia, though it is unclear how many have been allocated for the local market.
