It looks like Lenovo may finally release a retail version of its laptop prototype from 2022, which features a unique rollable display. According to leakster Evan Blass (aka @evleaks on X), the device is believed to be the brand’s sixth-generation ThinkBook Plus, and is expected to be officially announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January next year.
Blass also shared a series of product renders depicting the laptop in different perspectives. From what’s shown, the actual product appears to resemble the original prototype from two years back. Its all-grey design may look generic, but the hidden display extension mechanism is what really makes it stand out from the rest.
Unlike other concepts with similar technology (LG’s now-discontinued rollable TV being the first that comes to mind), the mechanism featured on the alleged sixth-gen Lenovo ThinkBook Plus expands its display instead of keeping it hidden. This results for a taller aspect ratio, allowing users to emulate having an equivalent of two screens on top of each other, which is handy for multitasking.
Unfortunately, the tipster did not provide any details regarding the ThinkBook Plus’s specifications. Provided that Blass’ leak is actually accurate, expect Lenovo to share more information at CES 2025, which will take place in Las Vegas next month on 8 January. It is rumoured that the brand may debut its latest handheld gaming device, the Lenovo Legion Go S, during the event as well.
