Alongside the Mate X6, Huawei has also launched the nova 13 series in Malaysia, as well as a surprise third model. While the company introduced the vanilla and Pro versions back in October, the event today also saw the global debut of the new nova 13i, the most affordable of the lineup.
Let’s start with the Pro, which sports a 6.76-inch 1.5K quad-curved LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The brand never discloses the chipset of their phones, but according to benchmark tests, the vanilla and Pro models run on the Kirin 8000 chip. The phones are paired with 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB configurations respectively.
On the optics side, it features a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP telephoto lens with OIS and 3x optical zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 60MP front shooter, and another 8MP snapper for close-up selfies. Powering it is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 100W charging, For protection, only the Pro comes with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.
Meanwhile, the standard nova 13 is fitted with a flat 6.7-inch 1080p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. For photography, it carries a similar setup to the Pro, but gets rid of the telephoto lens and close-up selfie camera.
Backing the mid-range phone is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 100W charging. Connectivity-wise, both models support 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. Additionally, the two smartphones shop with EMUI 14.2 and are equipped with under-display fingerprint scanners.
Confusingly, while the company did announce the price and availability of the 13i, it did not reveal its specs on stage nor its website. It does have a Shopee listing, which offers limited information including a 6.7-inch display, a 108MP camera, a 5,000mAh battery with 40W charging, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
The nova 13 retails at RM1,799, while the Pro and the 13i cost RM2,399 and RM1,299 respectively. They can be pre-ordered from 18 December 2024 to 10 January 2025 through the brand’s website as well as its Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop stores.
