Huawei’s latest and greatest foldable, the Mate X6, has finally made its way to Malaysia. Unveiled last month, the phone comes with notable upgrades including a better camera setup, a thinner body, and even bigger displays.
The Mate X6 is rocking a 7.93-inch 2440×2240 LTPO OLED main display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits, while the cover screen uses a 1080p LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and an even higher peak brightness of 2,500 nits, although it is unclear if this figure is for the local or global peak brightness rating.
As per the usual, the brand did not mention the chipset that the phone runs on, but according to several reports, it is likely the Kirin 9020, paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. On the protection side, it is equipped with Kunlun Glass 2 as well as an IPX8 rating for water resistance.
Optics-wise, the Mate X6 features a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 40MP ultra-wide lens, a 48MP telephoto lens with OIS and 4x optical zoom, and an “Ultra Chroma” sensor which the company claims helps to achieve better colour accuracy. For selfies, it gets 8MP snappers for both the inner and outer displays.
Powering the large foldable is a nominally larger 5110mAh battery with support for 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. Additionally, it comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. On the topic of software, it ships with EMUI 15.0; it is unknown if the global variant will ever receive HarmonyOS Next, as there have been reports that it will remain exclusive to China.
The Mate X6 is offered in three colour options and retails at RM. It will be available for pre-order from 18 December 2024 to 10 January 2025, with pre-orders bundled together with a free Watch Ultimate and a year of screen protection. You can purchase it through the brand’s website as well as its Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop stores.
