Panasonic has announced two new additions to its LUMIX camera lineup. The first is the LUMIX G97 micro-four-thirds camera, while the second is the pocket-sized Travel Zoom LUMIX ZS99.
The LUMIX G97 boasts a durable dust- and splash-resistant body, 2,360k-dot OLED Live View Finder on its back, along with a fully articulating 1,840k-dot free-angle LCD. Connectivity options include built-in Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi, as well as a USB-C for both charging and data transfers.
Inside, the camera offers a 20.3MP Live CMOS sensor and Panasonic’s high-performance Venus Engine processor, which are promised to deliver stunning image quality with excellent dynamic range, vibrant colours and reduced noise. It also comes with a 5-stop 5-axis Dual I.S.2 image stabilisation system.
For photographers, the G97 includes advanced features such as LUMIX Photo Style, which allows fine-tuning of colour effects and tonal settings to match creative preferences. The camera’s Live View Composite feature is perfect for long-exposure shots, enabling creators to combine multiple exposures in real time for light trails, star trails and so on.
On the video front, the camera offers 4K/30p recordings with no time restrictions, Full HD with slow-motion at up to 4x and quick-motion at up to 8x speeds, while the inclusion of 12 stops of V-Log L adds professional-grade cinematic flexibility. Audio control includes dedicated microphone and headphone jacks.
Meanwhile, the travel-friendly LUMIX ZS99 is equipped with a 24-720mm LEICA DC lens offering a 30x optical zoom, expandable to 60x with iZoom. Despite its compact design, the camera integrates 5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S.+ to ensure stable, high-quality video capture even at maximum zoom.
It supports 4K video recording at 30p and allows users to extract stills from bursts of 4K PHOTO at 30fps. For creative flexibility, the camera also records high-speed HD video at 120fps for slow-motion effects. Other features include a tiltable 1,840k-dot touchscreen, USB Type-C charging, and seamless sharing capabilities via built-in Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi.
Both models are slated to be available in the US towards the end of February 2025, though international availability is still not known at this time. The LUMIX G97 is available in a single black colourway and is priced at US$850 (~RM3,779) with a 12-60mm kit lens, while the LUMIX ZS99 is available in either black or silver and is priced at US$500 (~RM2,223).
