The eMAS 7, Proton as well as the nation’s first EV, has officially made its debut. Its launch event was held at MITEC earlier today, which was also officiated by prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The all-electric SUV is available in Prime and Premium variants. Colour options include Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Lithium White, and Quartz Rose. Proton notes that only one cabin colour is available for all options, which is Indigo Blue.
Both eMAS 7 models feature a 218 PS front-mounted electric motor. According to Proton, this enables the EV to hit 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, with a top speed of 175 km/h.
The Prime variant comes with a 49.52kWh battery, offering a WLTP-rated range of 345km, while the Premium’s 60.22kWh battery extends the range to 410km. Both models support AC charging at 11kW, with full charges taking 4.9 hours for the former and 6.1 hours for the latter. As for DC, the Prime accepts 80kW while the Premium supports a faster rate of 100kW, enabling a 30-80% charge in 20 minutes
Inside, the eMAS 7 features a minimalist cockpit with a 10.2-inch LCD instrument panel, a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a two-spoke steering wheel. The Premium adds a 13.8-inch head-up display, ventilated front seats, a 16-speaker audio system, and a panoramic glass roof.
Software-wise, a Proton representative clarified that the eMas 7, as well as its future EVs, utilises Meizu’s Flyme OS instead of the ATLAS system featured in its ICE models. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are absent at launch, but the company promises that they will be made available via an OTA update within six months. Both variants come with Level 2 ADAS as standard, earning the line-up a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating.
Proton also highlights the eMAS 7’s spaciousness, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase offering D-segment room. The SUV measures 4,615 mm in length and 1,901 mm in width, surpassing the Proton X70 in size. Practicality is further enhanced with 33 storage compartments, a 461-litre boot, and a total of 1,877 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded.
Pricing starts at RM109,800 for the eMAS 7 Prime and RM123,800 for the Premium, while the first 3,000 early adopters are eligible for a RM4,000 discount. Proton also offers a launch package worth RM8,000, including a free home charger, V2L adaptor, and low-interest financing options. Warranty coverage includes six years for the vehicle and eight years or 160,000 km for the battery.
