As the end of 2024 nears, we inch closer to the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. Thankfully, there has been no shortage of leaks of the next-generation handheld console, plus a new potential launch date for the device.
According to Redditor NextHandheld, their threads point to a possible mid-March launch for the Switch 2, which they say will follow a January 2025 announcement. Further, the console will be available in White and Gray colour schemes, along with game-themed editions, in which the latter totals nine.
NextHandheld also says that the Joycons of the Switch 2 will use Hall Effect, quite possibly in response to the dreaded stick drift issue that plagued the current generation Switch consoles. They also say that the console will ship out with an LCD panel although, we’d advise you to take this bit of information with a large grain of salt. It seems unlikely that Nintendo would revert back to an LCD, especially not after the release of the Switch OLED.
Another Redditor by the name of Mjayer even produced a couple of comparison photos, based off the alleged renders of the Switch 2, the Switch OLED, and the original Switch. Again, nothing has been set in stone but if the next Switch is indeed going to be bigger, then it’s got a display that’s almost on par in size with the Lenovo Legion Go.
