HMD has quietly unveiled a new entry-level smartphone called the Arc. It is listed on the brand’s Thailand website, but as of writing, the pricing and availability of the phone has not been revealed yet, but it is likely very affordable given the internals and the fact that it ships with the Go Edition of Android 14.
The Arc sports a 6.52-inch 1280×576 LCD display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 460 nits, along with a repairable design. Under the hood, the budget smartphone runs on a Unisoc 9863A chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. Despite its modest specs, it still comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner as well as an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
For imaging, the phone is fitted with a 13MP main camera on the back alongside a 5MP selfie shooter up front. Powering it is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging via USB-C. On the connectivity side, it supports 4G, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 5, and it packs a 3.5mm headphone jack.
As previously mentioned, the price and the availability of the phone is still unknown. However, given that the Fusion smartphone was made available here, its eventual release in Malaysia isn’t completely out of the question.
