HONOR has officially announced the launch date for its new flagship smartphone, the Magic7 Pro. The latest flagship, which was unveiled in China last month, will be arriving in the Malaysian market on 9 January 2025.
While the series is made up of two phones, the announcement only mentions the Pro, so it is unlikely that the vanilla model will also be sold here. The smartphone will come with an IP69 protection rating as well as the brand’s in-house on-device AI deepfake detection technology, which will notify users when it detects someone using a deepfake face during video calls.
Based on the release in China, the Magic7 Pro sports a 6.8-inch 1080p LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an HDR brightness of 5,000 nits, and a global peak brightness of 1,600 nits. It runs on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset which also comes with support for 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC.
For imaging, the phone features a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, a 200MP periscope lens with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP selfie shooter with autofocus. It is equipped with two biometric unlocking mechanisms, including the a 3D facial scanner as well as the return of an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Powering it is a 5,850mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.
