Samsung is set to launch a new budget smartphone in Malaysia called the Galaxy A16 LTE. As you can tell from the name, it is the 4G version of the A16 5G that was released here last month. While the company has not announced the arrival of the phone yet, it has already listed it on its Malaysian website with all its details, sans the price and the availability.
The only difference between the 4G and 5G versions of the Galaxy A16 is the chipset inside, with everything else remaining the same. It sports a 6.7-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 800 nits, alongside an IP54 rating. Under the hood, the LTE model uses a MediaTek Helio G99 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage — this is the only configuration listed on the website.
Imaging-wise, it features a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 13MP front snapper. Powering the affordable device is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W charging. On the connectivity side, it supports 4G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC while for biometrics, it is fitted with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
For software, the Galaxy A16 LTE ships with Android 14, with a promise for six OS upgrades and six years of security updates. This means that the phone will be getting official support until at least late 2030.
