AMD’s Strix Halo seems to have broken cover by appearing on the online repository, Geekbench. Specifically, the chip appears with the name of Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395.
The full name of the Strix Halo CPU is listed as “AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395 w/ Radeon 8060S”. The use of the Max in its name provides indication that the red chipmaker may be planning on doing away with the “9” in its naming convention. For context, the top of the line Ryzen AI mobile chipset is named Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.
Moving, the Geekbench page indicates that the Pro 395 features 16 Zen5 cores, along with a boost clock of 5.1GHz. Before one gets excited, it should be noted that the “Pro” moniker in the name could mean that it is a workstation-level mobile CPU and not technically meant for the general consumer.
In terms of performance, the Pro 395 and its Radeon 8060S has a Vulkan Score of 67,005 points, which is lower than the Radeon RX 7600 with a score of 90,577 points. This is also despite it having more cores and being based on the more advanced RDNA3.5 architecture.
AMD’s Strix Halo is expected to be announced at CES 2025, which kicks off next month. Obviously, hear more about the mobile CPU platform then.
